Toll since January to increase by a quarter

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - From January 2011 to increase tolls on Czech roads by 25 percent. A proposal by Transport Minister Vit Barta (VV), the government approved on Tuesday.

In the next year to pay for trucks Czech motorways on average five crowns per kilometer. Barta after the Government reminded that the Department of Transportation already has an agreement with the carrier, which provides for compensation from the state of 300 million. The state also negotiated with carriers from volume discounts toll.

Overall, according to Minister of Transport to increase the toll income of 1.2 billion. This year the toll is estimated to earn over 6.5 billion.

Ministry of Transport will endeavor to stimulate an increase in toll traffic on the tracks. Barta said Tuesday that starting next year, thus reducing tariffs for freight trains use tracks.

Cabinet Petr Necas (ODS) has also approved the project, the so-called floating toll road I/11 in the Region. Trucks and tolls to pay more if the pull out on the road during rush hour. If the system is successful, the DOT wants to expand the floating toll in other places in the country. "We want to help people during the peak time to get to work or take children to school," explained the proposal Barta.
