Eurozone retail sales in June rose by 0.1 pct


Eurozone retail sales after adjusting for seasonal factors rose in June decreased by 0.1% after a revised increase of 0.8% in May, the Statistical Office reported. Preliminary estimates for May featured an increase of 0.6% and a majority consensus in June expected stagnation. Sales of food, beverages and tobacco as well as in May increased by 0.4%, sales of food goods except automotive fuel decreased by 0.7% and compensate for an increase of 1.4% in May.According to available data, retail sales increased by only five countries in the monetary union, the most in Slovenia and Luxembourg, Germany, the third consecutive month of decline. In comparison, retail sales in the eurozone declined by 1.2% and remained in continuous decline since June last year. Throughout 27EU retail sales in June fell by 0.3% yoy and declined by 0.7%.
