Italians smuggle cash out of the country

The Italian economy there's not gloriously. The Italian government began to monitor cashless transactions and citizens reaction was not long in coming. They began to carry cash across borders.

During this year has significantly increased the amount of cash seized at the Italian border. Since the beginning of this year already amount of money seized by Italian police exceeded 40 million. Compared to the same period last year, an increase of almost 80%. By the way, are used also to specially trained dogs, similarly as in the case of drugs. This fact is meaningful in itself.

At the time of the Schengen area and the existing limit of 10,000 euros for transporting money should go only the tip of the iceberg. The capital fleeing from Italy in the form of cash is obviously huge.

Officials present this amount as money of criminal origin. Part of smuggled money this origin have undoubtedly will be, but not much. The second part, however, will be people who have lost confidence in the financial sector or   fears transfer their legally earned and taxed money out of Italy classic bank transfer,  to suddenly get on the list of suspected money laundering, etc. Therefore smuggle cash across borders.

It is totally unheard of, but not surprising. Unfortunately.
