German Greens and Greenpeace visited the Temelín, disagrees with the completion

TEMELÍN (MEDIAFAX) - Members of Greenpeace and representatives of the German Greens on Saturday visited the Nuclear Power Plant. Total power of the South Bohemian arrived five tens, said Sunday the agency Mediafax plant spokesman Marek Svitak.

Approximately half of them looked at the first block of the engine room and control room simulator. The program was also nearly three hours of discussion with the management of power plant and the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SONS). "It is clear that our views on nuclear energy diverge. This was evident during the discussion. On the other hand, but we appreciate every visitor who comes with his own eyes see how it looks and the things he wants to discuss openly, although his views on energy is different, "said director Miloš Štěpanovský Temelín.

CEZ representatives answered particular questions about plant safety, the completion of Temelin project financing or insurance for the operation of nuclear power plants. The topic of discussion was the need for construction of new facilities, the possibility of compensation for renewables and savings.

"Going through entirely renewable sources is certainly possible, but at some cost. This would reduce energy requirements by two thirds and therefore a complete change of lifestyle, "said the President of the State Office for Nuclear Safety Dana Drábová.

During the visit of the German Greens have repeatedly expressed their disagreement with the completion of power plant. Criticism was also prepared for the National Energy Concept of the Czech Republic, with a core that counts as an important part of the energy mix.

Petr Zavodsky, director of the construction of nuclear power plants, CEZ, in this context, pointed out that without the construction of new sources, the Czech Republic can not do in the future. "Over the next few years off because of ending the life of the oldest coal-fired power plant with an output of more than 3000 MW. If we want to replace this loss, without the completion of Temelin can not do, "said Závodský.
