UK - number of aid applications fell unexpectedly in September

Number of applications for unemployment benefits in September in the UK fell by 4,000 applications in total 1.57 million. Average market estimates calculated with zero change from the previous month. Decrease in the number of applications for aid was the third in a row. In August, the number dropped by 14,200 applications.

The overall unemployment rate fell in Q3 to 7.9%.
Number of people of working age increased by 212,000 to a total of 29.6 million people, which is the most since the start of monitoring data in 1971.

The number of people working part-time rose by 125,000 to 8.13 million, the highest since the beginning of monitoring data in 1992. 1.41 million people indicates that they are working part-time because they can not find full-time work.

The average wage grew by 1.7% compared to 1.6% in 2Q. Excluding bonuses, the growth reached 2%, the highest since December 2011.

British Pound responded to the report a slight increase of 0.2% against the dollar.
