ELECTION 2012: Started second round of Senate elections


PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - The Czech Republic started the second round of elections to the third of the Senate, polling stations opened on Friday beat 14.00, people can throw tickets urns to 22.00. Voting will continue on Saturday from 08.00 to 14.00.

Voters in 27 constituencies choose their senator. None of them have obtained the first round, an absolute majority of votes, the closest he had to direct procedure Vsetin Senator Jiří Čunek (KDU-CSL) with 47.28 percent. This confronts the Agrarian Chamber Vice President Henry Šnejdrla (CSSD).

Dramatic option is expected for example in Prague. There, in the eighth arrondissement, where he worked for 18 years Blue senator, got to the second round deputy Jiri Dolejs (Communists). His lead will try to erase Senator Filipiová (ODS).Interesting duel will also denouement in Prague 4, where a seat in the upper parliamentary chamber will fight senator and actor Thomas Töpfer (ODS) with the doctor Eva Syková (CSSD).

Voter turnout in the first round, where he scored the Left, was 34.9 percent. To vote in the second round usually comes up about half of the people less. For example, in 2010 participation was 44.59 percent on the first ballot, a second came only 24.64 percent of the people. The exception is 2002, when he again threw into the polls to vote on the third more people.
