Czech celebrating the year of the death of Vaclav Havel


PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - Exactly one year has passed since Tuesday, when the world go round news that ex-president Vaclav Havel died. With its demise went one of the greatest figures of the twentieth century European politics, which played a key role in the fight against the communist dictatorship in Czechoslovakia, the transition to democracy.

Former president died in his house in Hrádeček. The very next day, the coffin with the body of the deceased is exposed to two days in Prague Crossroads center in Prague. Thousands of people came here to be with ex-president said goodbye.

The funeral of former president was held on Friday at noon in the Cathedral of St. Vitus. Last tribute to Vaclav Havel came to pass the heads of state and politicians from around the world.For example, reached U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, exministryně U.S. State Madeleine Albright, British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, a delegation from Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, the Baltic States or Georgia. He arrived as head of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and President of Europarliament Jerzy Buzek. Total came almost fifty delegations.

Exactly at 12.00 the bells of the cathedral, and after a minute of silence began requiem. Celebrated by Prague Archbishop Dominik Duka, together with Czech and Moravian bishops and current Nuncio Giuseppe Leanza in the Czech Republic. Slovak Bishops' Conference was represented by the Bishop of Nitra Viliam Judák. From Germany to stay Archbishop of Regensburg Gerhard Ludwig Müller.Also present were representatives of other Christian churches.
Part of the last farewell to former President Vaclav Havel in St.. Vitus was six prayers and prayer over the gifts and the two Eucharistic prayers.

Approximately 13.40 came in the speech of President Vaclav Klaus, then Minister of Foreign Affairs Karel Schwarzenberg (TOP 09) and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. After them the funeral utterance joined Bishop Vaclav Maly.

Firing 21 rounds from Lobkowitz garden and anthem ceremony ended. At a time when soldiers brought in the coffin of St. Vitus Cathedral, the people saw off ex-president on their final journey from Prague Castle applause.

Followed by a private service at the crematorium in Prague Strašnice where Vaclav Havel farewell family and closest relatives. The urn was deposited after the Christmas holidays in the family tomb at the Vinohrady.
