GM's share of the domestic U.S. market should no longer continue to decline


Once dominant market share of U.S. automakers General Motors (GM) would have had to decline this year. Last year decreased by 1.7 percentage points to 17.9% resulting, which was the lowest since the company founded in 1924. Experts in the automotive industry estimate that this year should be to stabilize the car position and should be further decline. In 2011, the share was 19.6% level
GM's market share in the U.S. market was the highest. Followed by Ford with 15.5%, 14.4%, Toyota, Chrysler with 11.4%, with 9.8% Honda, KIA / Hyundai with 8.7%, Nissan and VW to 7.9 to 4%.

Absolutely the best result in its history, GM recorded in 1962, when it belonged to a full 51% of the U.S. car market. Subsequently, the proportion declined and for a longer period up to 1997 was around 31%. Recently proportion decreased in 9 of the last 10 years.

In 2012, the U.S. automotive market has sold 14.5 million vehicles in annual growth of 13%, which was the highest since 1984. The market is now estimated that this year the U.S. auto market holds up to 15.1 million new cars. The best way to lead is estimated carmakers VW, Honda and Nissan. Only small changes in market shares should note automakers GM, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler.

In the last year of the 6 American manufacturers could surprise on the upside only Chrysler, which increased its market share by 0.7%. On average, analysts counted with a decrease of 0.2%.
