Prime Minister Petr Necas: Removing license CEZ Albania Regulatory Authority perceived very negatively

Removing licenses largest Czech investor in the region, the company ČEZ, Albanian authorities perceive as a very negative signal to the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries.

How Albanian authorities against ČEZ is very disappointing. Precondition for any country aspiring to join the European Union's ability to ensure the rule of law and sound investment environment, including the protection of foreign investment.

I was convinced that Albania is among these countries. The Czech Republic therefore can not ignore the access to the Czech investor even in the context of Albania's integration aspirations. For membership in the European Union, Albania must prove that the rule of law, which follows the basic rules, which operates standard market environment.Even with regard to the traditionally friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Albania believe that the Albanian government will be interested in creating the conditions for a satisfactory resolution of the situation, to reach an agreement and prevents further escalation of the problem.

ČEZ has my full support for the recovery of damages, which had been caused by the procedure Albanian parties. However, CEZ management should evaluate the experience in this venture capital investments, to draw the consequences of the authors of this project and in future to avoid similar investments.

Petr Necas, Prime Minister
