How to develop business without risking loss?

Many times I have met with in business that anyone has guaranteed an idea how to "get rich" to start up a new business or expand the existing one. Consequently, such a person bet everything "in one basket" (read at your idealized idea). Mostly, however, such action results in a negative way. In this regard, a really smart entrepreneur behaves differently. Decays, respectively. minimizes risk. It follows the rule: "Jeopardy only what you can lose." This means that smart entrepreneur implements its "guaranteed ideas" or cleverly done if test.

Example: The pharmaceutical company wants to invest CZK 10 million in advertising campaigns. The amount of the budget right now is not important, the important thing is the principle - and the principle of testing. Instead, the company has invested CZK 10 million directly to the "guaranteed success" advertising campaign will test. What do I mean? On one, two pharmacies (or in 1-2 cities) realizes this "guaranteed success" advertising campaign in an abbreviated form, and examines the results of this test. Sales went up? Down? Revenues remain the same? When a company finds that sales go down, something is wrong ... A management company knows it's not worth naively invest CZK 10 million in nationwide marketing campaign. The whole test was a hundredth or thousandth of a percent of the entire consideration amount to the campaign. The company has saved a great loss to the campaign, which would not bring anything. If sales go up, he knows that shortened campaign concept (idea, creative component) is correct, and the company runs its full project across the country. And there is a high probability that he was a successful small sample test, the entire campaign will be successful. It usually is. This is the principle of testing, risk reduction. Increasing the likelihood of success.

The above example I gave with reference to the actual story, with one pharmaceutical company launched a multi-ad campaign to promote sales of its pill for a headache. Not only did their sales of that powder did not go up. On the contrary, began to decline. After a detailed analysis (this time management has taken the trouble) found that people of that advertising campaign started to see extra powder as effective at combating headaches. And simply said, "This My head still hurts when I'll buy this powder." They went and bought Paralen.

One entrepreneur gave me question whether to implement its "advanced ideas" to expand your business. "In your case I would need more information, of course, that I can competently advise" I replied. And I continued: "However, the procedure is clear - at least to make a test, such as through a survey among potential customers or sales methods to try a sample of territories, etc., so I know how good that your idea is.If I based on a sample (abbreviated test) found that there is a high degree of probability of success of implementing the idea, I would calmly into that loan, over which thinking (like a loan to finance the implementation of his idea). Otherwise, I suggest - to nezadlužujte. Nezadlužujte naively or so if you tried anything in bulk - and this attempt is financed from foreign money that you will need in the future to repay. That's a big risk. You lose ... and the loss you take more than you ever have. I would never go to a loan that I would not be able to cope in the event of failure of the project (idea). "

That principle applies: Jeopardy only what you lose / lose, without jeopardizing the viability of Thy. Ie. Extend business testing, with only minor losses. Otherwise, look rather different ways, innovative ways and ideas to jazz up your existing business without large investments. Alternatively, look for other business opportunities. I have met many a company (in fact, the majority of small and medium-sized companies), which does not follow the above rule. And then the owners or management company surprised that they are in big trouble. In short, you come up with something at the table in the office and then go implement. With no real idea of ??how their idea - and the consequences of their idea - will behave in reality. Not tested. Go hard, go live on the matter.

Do not be among those who are lost in the dark and make decisions in key ways from the table. His decision to do experiments and sub-tests so that you can verify at least some probability of success of their decisions.
