E15: CEZ obtained from the suppliers of nuclear Kow-how

Mediafax

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - CEZ obtained from the suppliers of knowledge relating to technology that will be used in nuclear power plant. Informed about the center daily E15.

The requirement that the winner of the construction of other blocks in Temelin nuclear power know-how handed CEZ will be fulfilled. "It will be specified in the specifications, it is one of the key points," said Ladislav Kriz, CEZ spokesman who announced the competition. The need to transfer knowledge about technologies that will be used in Temelin, warns the government commissioner for Temelin Vaclav Bartuška. "It is a basic condition," said Bartuška. According to Cross is necessary to limit dependence on technology suppliers.CEZ power plant must be able to operate independently.

Anders Jackson, European head of one of the participants in the tender, Westinghouse, admits that the transfer is possible. "If it is tender requirement, we have no problem with it," he said in an interview with E15. According to available information, this requirement adapts two other bidders, which are českoruské consortium Skoda JS and Atomstroyexport francouzskoněmecká Areva.

The question remains whether the know-how from foreign producer reactors could be used in future by Czech companies. Bartuška would be considered an appropriate form of support to domestic companies. And even with the Anders Jackson from Westinghouse had a problem. "We have a long history of providing technological know-how and its transfer. We did it even for the predecessor of today's Areva. That's why today, in France, providing all the technology, "said Jackson. Transfer of technological knowledge is advantageous, according to him anymore because Westinghouse wanted to have a "capable, well trained, educated customers."

Ladislav Kriz admitted that the transfer request may occur at a higher price for the construction of new nuclear units. In the end, but worth it. "It's more effective than being in thrall to someone else," said a spokesman for CEZ that it is necessary to evaluate possible risks. Czech companies would theoretically be necessary to get knowledge as suppliers of the tender winner. With regard to the expected price for the construction of new reactors, Anders Jackson points out that it's hard to say before they are aware of the exact details of the tender. They publish a CEZ in the end.

Jackson, however, estimates that the final price will be somewhere around four thousand dollars per one kilowatt of installed capacity. This would mean that the price of one reactor will actually often placed near the price of 100 billion per reactor. The winner receives a tender from CEZ contract for two blocks in Temelin with an option for a further three in Dukovany and Slovak Jaslovske Bohunice.
