Confederation of Industry of the Republic called on the government to prevent the sudden increase in electricity prices

Mediafax

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - The Association of Industry and Transport document sent on Friday, calls the current government to prevent chystanému jump in electricity prices. As informed the Union, his initiative to begin to connect more employers and business organizations.

The strongest challenge employers' organizations in the country Union draws attention to the negative impact on the competitiveness of firms and the purchasing power of citizens. "It is already electricity in the Czech Republic one of the most expensive in the European Union and the scissors are on the abyss. Due to the increase in electricity prices will drop in the Czech economy caused by the departure of businesses closing and energy-intensive plants due to less competitiveness, increase unemployment, growthinflation, etc. The dramatic consequences of totally unnecessary price increases must be prevented, "says the challenge.

According to Thursday's estimate of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), the electricity to households could rise from 1 January 2011 by nearly 13 percent, companies and more than 18 percent. An entrepreneur who consumes about 40,000 kWh, should pay a CZK 20 000 per year in addition, large enterprises consuming 30 GWh should pay about 15 million more per year.

"This price increase is totally unacceptable. Companies that have high energy costs will cause a huge drop in profits, and banks stop lending to them. As a result, companies will move their production abroad, where electricity is cheaper. The negative signal is that for foreign investors, "said union president Jaroslav Mil.

The invitation to the Association points out in his realistic way to mitigate the consequences of increased power over more than five percent of the reasons a higher share of renewable sources. It is distributed to 90 billion crowns from the sale of emission allowances for greenhouse gases, the allocation period for the years 2013 to 2020 among those who purchase green energy directly contributed to the reduction of emissions. The document points out that the intention to pass such allowances free energy companies is wrong with the fact that energy costs for citizens and businesses will not fall. "The price of power is generated in the European market and is determined mainly by German prices. We are therefore convinced that the implementation of the proposal will return at least some money to those who are to reduce emissions directly contributed and will avoid unnecessary and non-transparent redistribution and losses, "said the document.
