Transport in London subway workers strike complicates

LONDON (MEDIAFAX) - Thousands of Londoners on their way to work Monday's strike hit the London Underground staff. They are protesting against the dismissal, reported on Monday, Reuters and BBC.

Strike more than 10 thousand employees subway began on Sunday evening.

Total should be the abolition of 800 jobs at ticket offices at underground stations. For this reason, workers on strike at the beginning of September, but so far failed to reach an agreement with the unions.

The company responsible for the operation of public transport in London by Transport for London has identified the strike as "unnecessary" and urged employees to return to work. Striking workers but claims that layoffs would jeopardize the safety of the subway.

Authorities confiscated more than 100 buses and greatly expanding its capacity for river transport of passengers. Furthermore, have been postponed and planned repairs to the roads. According to authorities, Londoners would have to go to work on bikes.

London Underground daily use around 3.5 million passengers.

Metro staff intend to announce several more 24-hour strikes. They should be held no second November and 28 of November.
