Less poor pensioners than the Czech Republic has only Luxembourg, Drabek says minister

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Jaromir Drabek (TOP 09) said that in the Czech Republic only seven per cent of pensioners at risk of poverty, which is one of the best in Europe. The speech at the forum Drábková Gold Crown indicated that it is better to just five percent of Luxembourg.

"To keep this great number, you need to make changes very considerate," he said in his speech Drabek.

It is important to distinguish accurately by the Minister of the first pillar of the ongoing basic needs, and the second funded pillar, which should provide space for people to ensure individual. "We need to very accurately balance the first pillar to the second pillar of the environmental savings as extras," he said.

Drabek also partially rejected criticism that mothers are favored in the current system. "There is still a big difference in retirement age," said in response to the words of Prime Minister Petr Necas (ODS), which take into account the low number of children criticized.

"Our standard of living in old age should be related to the number of children and how we are raised. It was quite common for centuries, but the last 50 years of the welfare state, the system crashed," said Necas. It also said that he sees as an injustice that mothers with more children have a lower income due to limited job opportunities. Pension reform should be the issue in his opinion into account.
