Pavel Kohout: Why am I not in the nerve?

Although I've never counted, but I have a strong feeling that I am from Czech economists over the past fifteen years he wrote articles about the most critical of the government. Actually, to various governments: beginning with the Klaus perhaps I missed any.

Despite - or perhaps because - I am now a member already know how many times the government's economic commission. During the last three weeks, I come to the Office of the Government almost as often as in his own office. Curious straight answer - no, advice for the government is not actually paid. A job in the business for me nobody does. Evenings and weekends are just a little pracovnější than ever.

When I take it around and around, normal people must wonder why I was doing. Indeed, even some privileged information that could be cashed in, I honor this function does not.But the real answer is somewhere else.

Sixty billion spent unnecessarily

A few days ago NERV officially launched its anti-corruption strategy. Corruption is an expensive affair. In 2009, the volume of procurement staggering 635 billion crowns. Do you think all those billions were spent effectively, honestly and in order to maximize the public good? Hardly. And now imagine that it will save only a mere two percent, less than thirteen billion. That would be enough that the government did not have cuts in social spending.

Try also to imagine that perhaps a tenth of all that huge amount is over sixty billion is spent unnecessarily.
