The EU does not increase the volume of the rescue fund EFSF


BRUSSELS (MEDIAFAX) - Means EFSF rescue fund, which is intended for European Union countries that get into financial problems, may be temporarily increased, said Belgian Finance Minister Didier Reynders. Informed the AFP on Saturday.

Reynders was reacting to Friday's statement of the European Central Bank chief Jean-Claude Trichet, who called on eurozone countries to allocate additional funds to EFSF. "I'm for it in order to increase the volume of the program," said the minister, whose country currently chairs the European Union.

Currently the euro area to provide guarantees for EFSF fund of 440 billion euros (11 billion crowns).

"In Europe we need to ensure that debt is also not spread infection from Greece, Ireland and Portugal may," Reynders said.
