The Belgian central bank called for action to calm markets

BRUSSELS (MEDIAFAX) - Belgian central bank governor Guy Quaden on Monday urged local politicians to quickly create a government, and this step reassure financial markets. Reported by AFP and Reuters.

"The best would be to have in the coming weeks a new government," said Quaden. Recently, financial markets appeared to fear that debt problems will spread not only to Portugal or Spain, but also in Belgium. Brussels especially troubling political crisis because the country is now ruled by an interim government. "Overseas is difficult to understand how a country can remain without a government for more than six months and still work," said Quaden.

The governor also called for expansion of the volume of European rescue fund. On the other hand, did not support the idea of ??issuing common EU bonds. This proposal supports the President of the Eurozone countries (Eurogroup) Jean-Claude Juncker and Italian Finance Minister Giulio Tremonti. But builds against Germany, which fears that in this case it was necessary to change the European treaties.

The budget deficit Belgium in 2009 was six percent of gross domestic product (GDP), while total debt increased to 96.2 percent of GDP.
