Eurogroup - no new measures to curb debt crisis, no help Portugal and Spain, no rescue fund raising

Eurozone finance ministers meeting on Monday decided to leave the stabilization fund EFSF rescue the current level of 750 billion euros. EFSF chief Klaus REGLING then confirmed that the Fund has sufficient resources. After long negotiations with the IMF director Dominique Strauss-Kahn and economic situation in Europe rule out immediate measures on aid to Portugal and Spain.

Eurogroup Chairman Jean-Claude Juncker said the euro bond idea was rejected. Before the meeting of the Eurogroup originally proposed increasing the size of the stabilization fund. IMF report that imprinted Reuters noted that the ECB is likely to increase in future purchases of government bonds.

Council of European Ministers of Economy and Finance formally approved today help Ireland. Republic of Ireland is the second of the euro area, which used external assistance for Greece. Irish Finance Minister Brian Lenihan today will also propose austerity budget for 2011. The Government is committed to reducing the budget deficit by 2015 to below 3% of GDP.
