ATHENS (MEDIAFAX) - Greece on Wednesday paralyzed by a strike against austerity measures and privatization. It is expected that in the center of Athens will bring together thousands of people, reported Reuters, AFP and the Greek Kathimerini sheet.

The third general strike this year so far has the strongest impact on traffic throughout the country. Ridden trains, ports are closed, does not work properly Athens public transport. The strike also involved doctors, the country also threatened further information vacuum because it did not come to work even journalists.

On the other hand, air traffic controllers are on strike have not, they fear that such a move could threaten tourism. It tourism revenues are a significant source of revenue for the local economy.

At the Athens Syntagma Square has been collected from the morning crowds that want to engage in protests, which convened the largest unions GSEE and ADEDY. They collectively represent the interests of private and public sectors. In the center of the Greek capital is ready around 1500 police officers who patrol the access to parliament, in the area are already poised police cars and water cannons.

"Thieves, traitors!" Echoes from the crowd. "Where did all the money?" Rhetorically considered protesters, many of them are in Greek hands, but the Spanish flag. Protests in Greece is indebted to draw inspiration from the movement "outraged" that ruled in recent weeks, the Spanish city. For this reason there are even signs in Spanish, one of them is "Well pasarán" (not pass), a password from the Spanish Civil War.

Now the Greek Parliament will be a new round of austerity measures from the pen of local government. This year alone should save 6.4 billion euros (154.3 billion CZK), Athens and also pledged to accelerate privatization. Prime Minister George Papandreou to this package of savings and cuts to enforce because it is one of the conditions of international creditors, ie the European Union (EU) and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Currently, the main question mark was the second rescue package for Greece, which divides the euro area so far. The largest economy Eurozone countries, Germany, strongly promotes the participation of the private sector to but less strongly pronounced European Central Bank. Eurozone finance ministers at their meeting on Tuesday failed to reach agreement on the form just financial assistance.

According to the original estimate, European leaders should complete negotiations on the form of the second package for Greece at the Brussels summit on 23 and 24 June. According to unofficial data, the Athens should get funding amounting to 120 billion euros (2.9 trillion CZK). It would be but 30 billion (723.5 billion CZK) had come from the Greek government privatization program.
