British statisticians notify the March data on inflation (17.4.2012)

LONDON (MEDIAFAX) - British Statistical Office on Tuesday, the ONS published data on the development of local inflation in March. In February, annual inflation slowed to 3.4 percent and was the lowest since November 2010.

The decline in inflation in February was slightly lower than analysts expected, who assumed an annual increase in consumer prices by 3.3 percent. In January, annual inflation was 3.6 percent.

The main reason for the slowdown in inflation, according to a British statistical office lower energy costs offset the rising prices of alcohol and tobacco. "The largest downward pressure on changes in annual inflation between January and February came thanks to cheaper electricity and gas prices and lower prices for recreation, culture and transport," he said in March the local ONS Statistical Office.

However, inflation remains above dvouprocentním to the Bank of England, and it continuously since the end of 2009.

Monthly inflation in February was 0.6 percent according to the ONS, while analysts expected a rise of 0.5 percent.
