ECRI: Inflationary pressures in the euro area continues to grow

BANGALORE (MEDIAFAX) - Inflation pressures in the euro area by the Institute for Business Cycle Research (ECRI) in March continued to rise and an indication of future inflation for the euro area rose to 98.4 points from 97.6 points in February. Informed on Friday by Reuters.

According to ECRI index rose by the most growth indicators for Germany, Italy and Spain.

"Despite the growth in March, the pointer is far below the peak reached in March 2011. Inflationary pressures in the euro area are still so mild," said Lakshman Achuthan of the Economic Research Institute of the cycle.

The European Central Bank (ECB) at its meeting on Thursday left interest rates unchanged at a record low of one percent, and its chief Mario Draghi said that annual inflation in 2013 is likely to fall below two percent threshold.

The preliminary estimate of the European statistical office Eurostat Euro area annual inflation in April fell to 2.6 percent from 2.7 percent in March.
