Car sales in Europe declined compared to the first half of last year by 6.3 percent (July 17, 2012)


BRUSSELS (MEDIAFAX) - The passenger car market in Europe fell for the first half of this year by 6.3 percent, compared to the first half of 2011, about 465 000 registered cars less. On Tuesday informed the Automotive Industry Association (AutoSAP).

According to data on first registrations of new passenger cars in the first half of 2012, published on Tuesday by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association ACEA, not in the EU27 and EFTA countries (EFTA = Norway, Iceland and Switzerland) to change nepřízného trend. Car sales in June slowed down even on their eight month low.

For the first half of this year in the EU and EFTA first registered 6,896,348 new cars, which is 6.31% less than the same period of 2011. For passenger cars, Skoda and Hyundai, produced in the CR was still recorded growth of registrations.

In the EU27 countries were registered only 6,644,829 pieces of new passenger cars, compared to 2011, a decrease of 6.81%. This is a record low sales figures in the EU for the first half since 2005, first registrations of values ??are below the "crisis" of 2009, when it was registered in EU countries 7,273,959 units of passenger cars.

The sales recorded four of the seven largest European automotive markets (markets with marketing for the 1st half of 2012 over 250 thousand cars), a market of France (1,048,982 units, -14.37%), Italy (814,179 units, -19 , 73%), Spain (406,070 units, -8.17%) and Belgium (registered 285,116 units, a decrease of 12.66%).

The German market grew by 0.73 percent (to 1,634,401 units), the market in the UK rose to 1,057,680 vehicles, representing a growth of 2.72 percent. About 1.26 percent mend his ways and the automotive market in the Netherlands (332,490 pieces). The 7 markets constitute 80.9 percent of European market for passenger cars.

For the first twelve brands (according to the number of first registration for the 1st half of 2012) occurred in 2011 compared to an increase only for brands Audi, Mercedes and Skoda. Other brands with an increase in registrations noteworthy Korean Hyundai (about 55 to 60 percent of registered vehicles in Europe are manufactured in the Czech Republic) and Kia.
