Peake: I do not exclude that we will try to separate the salaries of judges and politicians

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - Under the proposal, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, who will discuss on Thursday the government would at the same time significantly increased judges' salaries and wages of politicians. Vice-Carolina Peake (PEOPLE), however, said on Wednesday that the department does not exclude the salaries of judges and other court officials.

"I am fully aware that the proposal to increase salaries seems like hubris, especially at this time. Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is proposing to increase the coefficient for calculating the salaries of constitutional officials, from 2.5 to 2.7. But did not request an increase in politicians, but constitutional judges to judge and to all state officials. Calculation of salaries of government officials because it is linked to preserve the Constitution equality of legislative, executive and judicial. The Constitutional Court requests an increase in the coefficient for all even at 3, "said Peake, with the proposal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is a compromise to which the government is forced to the Constitutional Court and the court may also call into question again as too low.

"I do not exclude, however, that the government decided in its resolution calculation of salaries of judges and other court officials separated. This would, however, was effectively undermined the power of constitutional equality," said Peake.

Increase salaries of politicians, a change of their common base salary with the judges. The Constitutional Court previously marked reduction in base salary to the average wage in the public sector from three times to 2.5 times, which took place from 1 January 2011, the salary for the restriction of the judges, which is inconsistent with the Constitution.Return to the original three times, however, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs put high demands on resources from the state budget in 2013 and following years, the period in which they apply austerity measures virtually all population groups.

"For a reasonable solution, especially given the current economic situation and the state budget, which is considered to determine the base salary relation to the average wage in the public sector of 2.7 times," says the material in the national Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

Gross parliamentary salary would increase after the conversion of 55,900 crowns to 66,700 crowns, Minister of 106,600 crowns to 127,200 crowns and the Prime Minister would have improved by almost 30 000 CZK to 179 000 per month.
