CNB introduces monitoring credit conditions of banks

Czech National Bank introduced regular monitoring of conditions in the credit market in the banking sector. Survey of credit conditions, banks will be held four times a year and the results will be published in the last decade of January, April, July and October.  

First round of the survey in late June and July, attended by 18 banks and branches of foreign bankshaving more than 90% of the bank loan market. From the results   that in the second quarter, banks have tightened credit standards rather for corporate and consumer loans, while loans for housing is loose. Demand for loans from banks increased overall. In the third quarter, banks expect a further tightening of standards, growth in demand for loans to enterprises also loans and conversely the decline in consumer loans.

Survey of credit conditions, banks are in many countries under the name of Bank Lending Surveythe standard tools that allow you to get to central banks and other users with valuable information on the evolution of bank credit market beyond the regular reporting of data. CNB in ??the preparation of this new investigation was inspired by the best practices of foreign central banks, they take into account the specific Czech conditions and experience gained from the pilot round.

Qualitative information obtained by CNB questionnaire directly from a representative sample of banks cover both the supply side of credit (the development of credit standards and conditions stipulation banks in lending) and demand side (banks perceived demand for loans by households and firms), and evaluate the most important factors that thechanges in supply or demand is. CNB investigation, as in other central banks also covers not only the observed evolution of credit conditions and credit demand in the previous quarter, but also the expected development in the next three months.
