Eurostat shall notify the July preliminary data on inflation in the euro area

BRUSSELS (MEDIAFAX) - European statistical office Eurostat on Tuesday published preliminary data on the July inflation in the eurozone. In June, annual inflation in the euro area countries has stagnated at 2.4 percent.

Across the European Union but the annual inflation rate rose to 2.6 percent from 2.5 percent in May.

Mom in June, consumer prices in the euro area fell by 0.1 percent, while across the EU have been stable.

The inflation rate in 17 countries and the euro area is lower than in June last year when it was 2.7 percent. Average inflation for the last 12 months to end June this year but remains at 2.7 percent.

"Inflation remains at 2.4%. Commodity prices are indeed on the basis of the following year, however weak euro increases their price on the domestic market.The pace of growth will stagnate, "said the agency Mediafax financial markets analyst Next Finance Martin Prokop.

Eurostat, but now issued only a quick estimate for the euro area, the estimate for the entire European Union quick estimate does not statisticians.

The rise in prices in the euro area is measured by the consumer price index monetary union. A quick estimate is usually accurate and the final result from it rarely differs by more than a tenth of a percentage point.

In June this year was the lowest annual inflation in Sweden (0.9%), Greece (1.0%) and Bulgaria (1.6%) and conversely the highest in Hungary (5.6%), Estonia and Malta ( in both 4.4%). Compared with the May annual inflation fell in eight EU Member States, remained stable in eight and increased in ten.

The lowest twelve-month average inflation up to June this year was registered in Sweden (1.1 percent), Ireland (1.6%) and Greece (1.9%), and the highest in Estonia and Hungary (both 4.7%) and the Slovak Republic (4.1 percent).

Showed a sharp increase in energy prices, which rose by 6.1 percent, while in June, the very same time decreased by 1.7 percent. Alcohol and tobacco prices rose by 4.9 percent, while in June remained unchanged.
