CSO: The general unemployment rate in the second quarter was flat at 6.8 percent

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - Following the methodology of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in the second quarter of this year unemployment rate in the age group 15 to 64 year stagnated at 6.8 percent. On Friday, informing the Czech Statistical Office (CSO).

The number of unemployed persons reached 350,900 (of which 180,600 were women), the year the total number of unemployed decreased by 0.5 thousand people. Unemployment dropped significantly in the male did not show either (a decrease of 0.8 thousand), nor in the female population (increase of 0.3 thousand).

In the classification by level of education are consistently low unemployment rate for university graduates (2.5 percent) and persons with full secondary education with GCSE (4.8 percent).High unemployment persists among persons with basic education (28.3 percent) above the average in the large group of people with secondary education without GCSE including apprenticeship (7.4 percent).

A different survey methodology led to a discrepancy between the general unemployment rate (ILO) and the registered unemployment rate issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MLSA). The trend was similar for both rates, the registered unemployment rate reached MLSA in the second quarter 2012 value of 8.4 percent, representing a decrease of 0.1 percentage points.

The average number of employees, seasonally adjusted, in the second quarter versus first quarter 2012 increased by 10.2 thousand people. After two quarterly decline in employment has risen again and continues its uninterrupted growth since the second quarter 2010 to third quarter of 2011.

In comparison, the number of persons employed by 11.8 thousand (+0.2 percent) to 4 888 100 persons, and to increase the number of people in a position of self-employed without employees (53,500 people). The total number of entrepreneurs, including family members, compared with second quarter 2011 increased by 37.8 thousand to 908.0 thousand and their share has reached 18.6 percent. Number of employees, including members of producer cooperatives decreased compared to 2nd quarter of 2011 by 26 thousand to 3 980 200 people and made 81.4 percent of total employment.

Employment rate (percentage of employed persons in the group of 15 to 64 years of age) reached 66.5 percent compared to the second quarter of 2011 increased by 0.8 percentage points. The employment rate for men rose by 0.5 percentage points to 74.6 percent employment rate for women rose by one percentage point to 58.1 percent.
