Government reforms cutting the domestic economy, says Czech Social Watch Coalition


PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - The Czech Social Watch Coalition cutting the reform of the current government's domestic economy. Report on the progress and shortcomings in the fight against poverty and for equality between men and women in the CR presented the coalition with the economic evaluation of the past year in the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

"Unemployment is at ten percent, government reform podřezávající domestic economy, and antisocial protirodinná policy, capital outflows from the economy to tax havens and destruction of instruments of environmental protection," summarized the previous economic period in the Czech Republic Ilona Švihlíková economist.

According to Social Watch Coalition's economic development in the CR in 2011 significantly influenced by government policy of budgetary consolidation and reform proposals of the public sector. Due to fiscal austerity is falling domestic demand and slowing GDP growth.

"The Czech Republic remains enormously dependent on external economic environment. Government austerity measures in the form of lower social spending and an increase in indirect taxes - VAT - have a drastic impact on senior citizens at risk fall into poverty and homelessness," says Švihlíková.

Member of the Tax Justice Network Tožička Thomas added that the tax havens for illegal tax evasion disappears from the CR to 140 billion per year and at least another 50 billion flows without taxation because of the 1300 Czech companies avoid paying taxes by using tax havens and so-called off shorových-centers. "The state that comes to 40 billion annually in taxes and, together with the fact that the money disappears forever from the Czech economy, we lose tens of thousands of jobs," said Tožička.

Community Social Watch is an international coalition that organizes a national platform in more than 90 countries. The purpose of the network is to monitor human rights and gender equality in the countries involved. Coalition keeps track not only the issue of global economic decline.
