Prohibition: Czech on the front pages of the world media, but we still envy Poland

The Czech Republic has for a long time, got back on the front pages of global financial media. Unfortunately, as so often in recent years, he does so in the context of unexpected positive surprise theme is Prohibition liquor introduced in connection with the poisoning by methanol. (SOURCE: CSOB)

Methanol affair is the second greatest catastrophe in the history of the Czech Republic

No, we do not intend to develop the consideration of whether the loss estimates that can generate monthly prohibition for the state budget (apparently around 750 million dollars), is irrelevant. Likewise, do not intend to get bogged down in academic debate about whether prohibition is sufficiently market-friendly solutions and that sooner or later pave the way for further development of the black market.

I wish there were other worries

Rather, we point out that prohibition, which we can employ a few weeks or months, will mean that the efforts of the government, and by extension the public's attention, they will napřeny direction, which, although logically us media visibility (even in the financial world) but unfortunately only in relation to this unfortunate incident.

The Czech Republic, for example, gets into interesting media confrontation with Poland. The fact is coincidentally also after a long time after the weekend wrote in the Wall Street Journal, the topic was entirely different. WSJ focuses on the fact that the Polish economy is slowing dramatically recently (the growth is in our view still enviable 2%), and so the government in Warsaw begins to address how to support the economy.

  • The top 10 world economies
  • Another crisis in Europe: Thousands of protesters tell - it's a crisis of democracy
  • Oil vs. Gas: How will prices do in the fall and that shares can benefit from it?
  • Interestingly, it does not occur only in the short-term demand measures, the Liberal government of Prime Minister Tusk wants to support structural reforms of the economy and the supply . The Polish government while trying to find the perfect mix of measures to help the economy an optimal way, but in the short term it too nepřiškrtila.

What can I say? Perhaps only the fact that the Poles just because of such "trouble" get on the front pages of global financial periodicals, their northern neighbors can only envy.
