Interest in platinum at record levels



ColosseumInvestors' positions in platinum soared to record levels. The interest aroused production losses in South Africa (the largest producer in the world), where strikes crippled production. Furthermore, the final steps of the central banks continue to extremely loose monetary policy. ECB introduced unlimited government bond purchase program troubled eurozone countries, the Fed started a third round of quantitative easing program, under which it intends to buy a monthly mortgage-backed securities worth 40 billion USD. Not lagging behind Bank of Japan, which today unexpectedly extended its program of asset purchases to 126 billion USD. Investors are so focused on the precious metals because they fear that in the future, the above steps will lead to degradation of the world's major currencies.The amount of platinum held in ETPs (exchange traded products) rose to 46,748 tons, beating the record of 46,316 tons in 2011. and # 160;
