CEZ operates the largest wind farm in Europe

Today at 8:35 CEZ joined the 216th Network turbine that makes Fantanele wind farm in Romania and Cogealac ahead with a total installed capacity of 540 megawatts of its competitor in Scotland and became the largest onshore wind farm in Europe.

"This wind farm is the largest project in the world outside of the United States," boasts Daniel Beneš, CEO of ČEZ, as"It's one of our best investments, the park is situated in a unique site of one of the two windiest areas in Europe," says Tomas Pleskac, director of distribution and abroad. And indeed, for his, albeit incomplete, operation, park made ??just for the first nine months of this year in the amount of electricity 655.9 GWh - this means that adding electricity to more than one thousand 600T Romanian households.

And more turbines are connected to the network every day. All 240 of the 600 MW should be fully operational at the end of this year. "Construction of turbines and connecting to the network goes according to plan," she says Ondřej Safar, Project Manager Fantanele and Cogealac, adding: "When we entered into this project, Romania had only 14 MW of wind turbines, so we were basically pioneers in the field big projects like this. "CEZ has contributed significantly to the increased production of clean energy, last year, the share of CEZ due to wind farm with more than 40% of the green certificates market in Romania.

Wind farm Fantanele and Cogealac covers an area of 12 x 6 km in the Romanian province of Dobrogea in the distance 17 km from the Black Sea. The park installed GE wind turbines with unit installed capacity of 2.5 MW. This is the type of wind turbine with a height 100 m and rotor diameter 99 m And is the latest possible technology of wind turbines, in the case of efficiency, reliability and operational parameters of the network connection.

CEZ Group acquired wind farm construction project Fantanele and Cogealac from Continental Wind Partners LLC in August 2008. The first turbine was then launched on 1 June 2010 at exactly 17:25 pm. Total investment CEZ Group into the project reach 1.1 billion euros (about 27 billion dollars). The return in this case is high, only in the first half of 2012 contributed windpark Fantanele and Cogealac in the overall financial results of CEZ Group's amount of 0.7 billion crowns.

Experience of building a wind farm Fantanele and Cogealac, including the best experts from Romania, CEZ Group will use for the upcoming Eco-Wind project in Poland. In accordance with the new strategy of CEZ in December 2011 bought a majority stake in a leading Polish developer of wind farms Eco - Wind Construction Poland, which has a portfolio of 15 projects in various stages of development with a total capacity of approximately 700 MW.
