Office imposed a fine of 93 million Telefónica CR

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - The abuse of its dominant market position to order the Office for Protection of Competition (OPC) a fine of 93 million telecommunications company Telefónica CR Office about the center reported on its official website.

"Telefónica CR we awarded a penalty exceeding 93 million for abuse of dominant position on the market for the provision of public telephony services for businesses through public fixed telecommunications networks. The case then nearly eight years of administrative decisions in which courts have issued five judgments. The latest judgment of the Regional Court in Brno from April 2011 confirmed the findings of the Office of factually that the company abused its dominance, but canceled part of the penalty with the fact that the fine is not adequately justified.

The Authority, therefore, in the latest decision focused mainly on a detailed calculation of the penalty. Severity was taken into account as anticompetitive conduct, duration and repeated violations of the law by the subscriber.

Office for the Protection of Competition is the central state administration of the Czech Republic, with responsibilities for the protection of competition, supervision over public procurement, and monitoring and coordination of public support. The Office is managed by the Chairman, who is appointed by the President of the Republic for a six-year term.
