SCIO: Reduce the number of undergraduates is economic nonsense

PRAGUE (MEDIAFAX) - It is not true that the Czech Republic has too many university-educated people. The labor market still does not have enough of them, in addition to Europe are better paid, said at Thursday's press conference, representatives of SCIO.

Although the Czech public often think that we are in the land of too many graduates and students should be directed to practical fields, numbers of SCIO shows the opposite.

"There are still a few, but it certainly raises the number of those who enter university, there are getting a little bit above the average in the OECD. Recent figures show that last year to study enrollment 60.4 percent of the age cohort. This is shocking number, twenty or thirty years ago it was 10 percent, "said Ondřej Šteffl, CEO of SCIO.Thus, although the number of those high-school boards, unemployment figures suggest that the labor market is still not saturated with them.

That the demand for academically educated graduates takes evidenced by salary. "The difference income college students and those who do not have this education is far above average compared to Europe. This means that our country has always highly valued graduates. If there were enough and the market was saturated, they would not overpaid compared to OECD countries," filed another argument Bohumil Kartous, a specialist company SCIO.

Šteffl strongly denied that the Czech Republic had threatened the same situation that exists in Spain. There pětatřicetiprocentní unemployment numbers reported by college students. Even this figure, however, has its own context. "There's still this appeal, that the number of university graduates has dramatically reduced because there's the Spanish bogeyman. But Spain's overall unemployment and forty apprentices and high school students have such a greater share of unemployment, apprentice to 50 percent, "computed. Means according to him, that the reduction in the number of college students would fall in unemployment does not help, on the contrary.

It is also a significant difference in how many university graduates in our country and in Spain working on sites for which their level of education needed. "In Spain it is 35 percent and only five of us. So we still have a shortage of university graduates. People are surprised because they had studied 15 percent of the age group, today the 60th is so clear that the earlier graduates were better because the larger is some group, the less its average quality, "mentioned Šteffl.

As myth and tagged Kartous Šteffl the fact that the Czech Republic suffers from a lack of engineering graduates, while the demand for them. Interest in engineering among students at 22 percent, far higher than other areas, and the number is stable for six years. "So it is true that the declining interest in them," mentioned Šteffl.

"Experts from the SCIO agreed that the solution to the unemployment rate, both in the Czech Republic, or in the world, there is no reduction in the number of college students, but to improve the quality of education." It is not true that embodies quality education diploma. People with the title already is so much that has lost meaning. Indicator is how good and beneficial education faculty can provide their students, "said Director.

He added that it is still true that the college find a job more easily than those who do not. "Reduce the number of undergraduates received is economic nonsense," he concluded.

SCIO is a company focused on testing pupils in primary and secondary schools, e-learning and support student activities. Many faculty in the Czech Republic, admit students on the basis of its national comparative tests in secondary schools within the project detects vector, as it changed the rate of general study skills between first to fourth year.
