U.S. - sales over the Black Friday weekend rose by 13% to 59.1 mld.USD

According to the U.S. National Retail Federation total retail sales over the Black Friday weekend and the subsequent rise in the high street and online stores by 13% to 59.1 mld.USD. In the same period last year, sales grew by 16%. The number of shoppers increased significantly year on year to 35 million compared to 29 million last year.

About 28% of shoppers took to the stores in the course of Thursday night, compared with 24% last year. Average price grew by 6.3% to 423 USD.

Online sales on Black Friday grew by 26% and for the first time surpassed the limit of 1 mld.USD. During the first 23 days in November, online sales grew year on year by 16% to 13.7 mld.USD. On Thanksgiving sales grew by 32% to 633 mill.USD.

NRF for this year's main shopping season running in the last two months of estimated revenue growth of 4.1% to 586.1 mld.USD. Last year growth was 5.6%. NRF said it will revise its estimates, if the settlement of the threat of so-called fiscal cliff.

According to research by Credit Union National Association and the Consumer Federation of America, 12% of respondents stated that this year will spend during the Christmas season more money than last year, compared to 38% who intend to reduce their spending this year.
