The ECB left rates unchanged, the economy will recover slowly this year

ECB at its meeting today decided to leave its key interest rate for the euro unchanged at a record low level of 0.75%.

ECB chief Mario Draghi said in an accompanying commentary that the real economy still remains weak. This year, however, the central bank expects year of slow economic recovery, when the bond market recovered from a three-year crisis and stabilized. Draghi warned, however, that the economic recovery remains very fragile, the main risks lie in the need to search further and further austerity measures by governments and persistent insecurity and distrust of investors and consumers inside and outside the euro area.

Draghi also enumerated list of improvements made in recent months. It consists mainly of stabilization in the market yields of government bonds and CDS contracts.Another success is the relative price stability. Inflation this year should fall even further below the target of 2% for balanced risks.
