China, Eurozone, Germany - everywhere in the services PMI above market expectations

Service sector activity in China, the euro area and Germany, according to the index purchasing managers (PMI) rose slightly above market expectations.

In China, the PMI for services in January, according to statistics HSBC / Markit Economics rose to 54 points from December's 51.7 points, which was more than in the last two years.
Sector growth was also confirmed by government statistics showing a slight increase from 56.1 to 56.2 points. Government index grew fourth month in a row.

The services sector in China last year catered to 46% of total GDP. In 2003 the share accounted for 41%. For comparison, in the U.S. services generate a full 90% of the total GDP.

The PMI for services in the euro area grew slightly in January to 48.6 points compared to 48.3 points market expected.
The same index for Germany, which is the largest part of the euro area recorded a 55.7 point improvement versus stagnation estimated at 55.3 points.
