Czech Republic - foreign trade in December with a surplus of 6.4 billion, in 2012, then 310.8 billion

According to preliminary data of border statistics in December year on year in current prices, exports fell by 7.1% and imports by 7.0%. A surplus CZK 6.4 billion, which was an increase of CZK 0.7 billion lower.
In in 2012 compared with the previous year, exports grew by 6.4% and imports by 2.4%. Annual surplus reached 310.8 billion CZK, which was by CZK 119.6 billion higher than in 2011.

According to preliminary data of border statistics, seasonally adjusted exports rose by 2.7% and imports by 6.5%. The development trend shows increasing exports by 1.3% and imports by 1.5%.

Y in current prices in December exports fell by 7.1% (CZK 16.2 billion) and imports by 7.0% (CZK 15.5 billion). The decline in exports was the first time since October 2009. Foreign trade turnover fell by 31.7 billion to CZK 415.3 billionCZK and was the lowest since December 2010. The results were affected by lower number of working days (three fewer than in December 2011).

Exports and imports converted into euro fell by 6.0% and 5.9%. In USD terms, exports decreased by 6.5% and imports by 6.4%.

Export companies based in the Czech Republic declined by 9.5% (CZK 16.3 billion) and exports of organizations located outside the Czech Republic increased by 0.2% (CZK 0.1 bn). Import company based in the Czech Republic fell by 10.7% (CZK 19.5 billion), while imports of companies based outside the Czech Republic increased by 10.8% (CZK 4.0 bn).

The trade balance ended in December surplus CZK 6.4 billion, which was by CZK 0.7 billion lower. Balance entities based in the Czech Republic recorded a deficit of CZK 7.3 billion (compared with the deficit of 10.5 billionCZK in December 2011), the balance of subjects that are not based in the Czech Republic, showed a surplus of CZK 13.7 billion (against a positive balance of CZK 17.6 billion in December 2011).

Negatively affected the balance of surplus in machinery and transport equipment by CZK 5.1 billion and manufactured material by CZK 0.5 billion and the deficit up for chemical products by 0.4 billion CZK, beverages and tobacco by 0.2 billion CZK. Diminished contrast deficit in mineral fuels by CZK 2.2 billion and food and live animals at CZK 0.1 billion. Industrial consumer goods recorded a surplus of CZK 1.4 billion and deficit turned into a surplus in the balance of trade in raw materials by 1.3 billion CZK.

Total exports of machinery and transport equipment fell by 8.7% (CZK 11.0 billion). Decreased in exports of road vehicles (CZK 6.1 billion), electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances (2.0 billionCZK) and telecommunications equipment (CZK 1.9 billion). Increased exports of computers (CZK 2.7 billion). Total imports of machinery and transport equipment decreased by 6.2% (CZK 5.9 billion), of which the largest decline recorded for imports of road vehicles (CZK 3.1 billion) and machinery and equipment for the production of energy (about 3 , 0 billion CZK). Increases were mainly imports of computers (CZK 3.0 billion). Imports of mineral fuels fell by 12.2% (CZK 3.4 bn). Oil imports in value terms increased by 5.2% in terms of volume dropped by 4.4%. Imports of natural gas was lower by 33.7% in value and in volume by 39.6%.

The trade balance with EU countries reached a surplus of CZK 41.9 billion, which was by CZK 0.8 billion lower. Deficit countries outside the EU fell by CZK 0.1 billion to CZK 35.5 billion. Trade surplus grew with Austria 1.7 billionUnited Kingdom and CZK 1.4 billion and CZK diminished trade deficit with Russia by CZK 2.7 billion. The positive balance on the contrary decreased with Slovakia CZK 0.9 billion and Germany by CZK 0.5 billion. The deficit widened in trade with China by CZK 5.3 billion and surplus into a deficit trade balance deteriorated with Poland CZK 1.3 billion.

In 2012 compared to 2011, exports grew by 6.4% and imports by 2.4%. External trade turnover increased by 248.5 billion to CZK 814.8 billion CZK 5. A surplus 310.8 billion CZK, which was by CZK 119.6 billion higher. The trade balance improved mainly in machinery and transport equipment (surplus of CZK 74.5 billion) and miscellaneous manufactured articles (surplus of CZK 26.4 billion). Grew contrast deficit in trade in mineral fuels by CZK 9.9 billion.External Trade with EU countries in 2012 resulted in a surplus of CZK 710.0 billion, which was by CZK 36.6 billion higher. With non-EU trade deficit decreased by CZK 83.1 billion to CZK 399.2 billion.

The balance of trade in national concept (national balance of payments) reflecting the performance of the Czech economy in December 2012 showed a deficit of CZK 7.1 billion. Data on exports and imports of goods, calculated using data for VAT under this methodology are given in Table 8 and in the time series External trade in goods by the change of ownership (national concept).
