The government succeeded in negotiations on the EU budget

The result of the European Council is a new multi-annual financial framework that meets most requirements of the Czech Republic.

Complicated negotiations in Brussels ended favorably for the Czech Republic. "The result of the negotiations is considered a success," said Prime Minister on press briefing 8th February . The government has sought to ensure that the EU budget to support competitiveness, was modern and fair to all Member States.

Agreed budget includes reduced spending compared to the past, but this means that it reduces the Czech contribution to the common treasury. "One year of the seven years we free like in the EU," Prime Minister approached the matter.

Cohesion and Agriculture

We managed to limit cuts in Chapter cohesion policy and cuts in agriculture are higher contrast, which was also one of the priorities of the Czech. The increase in cohesion policy means more income for the Czech Republic as 20 billion euros. The cohesive project also helped the Czech Republic to enforce the tax deductibility of VAT. For drawing from cohesion funds while we get more time (so-called N +3).

In agriculture falls CR € 5.4 billion in direct payments and 1.9 billion for rural development. The Government also succeeded with the requirement of voluntariness of any capping direct payments to large national farm.

Overall, the country has become stronger net recipient of EU funds, as it increased the difference between our contributions and revenues. According to the prime minister as "one of the largest increases among EU Member States". We got to the 4th place in national per capita allocation.

More competitiveness and efficiency

The only problem is the budget for the Czech Republic is still relatively underfunded chapter competitiveness, science and research. Here, according to the government not to save.

The main responsibility now lies but at the national level. "The biggest gaps we have in the total volume, but in order to efficiently and transparently be able to use these resources at home," urged Prime Minister Petr Necas.
