Poland decreased rates more than expected

Poland's central bank surprised markets today and lowered its key interest rate by 50 basis points to 3.25%, a new record low for the country. The market has allowed for a reduction, but only by 25 points.
The Polish central bank is responding to the worst economic downturn in 12 years. Economic situation of the CEE region's largest economy worsens significant decrease in activity of consumers, whose spending is 62% of the biggest driving force of the economy. decline in demand related to growth rate since 2007, up to the level of 14%.

It is estimated that this year Poland's GDP will grow by about 1.2%, which is at least since 2001. Some indicators of the beginning of the year suggests a possible turnover and total recovery of the Polish economy. The market then counted with some growth from the second quarter.

Poland was the only economy in the EU, which in 2008 managed to avoid recession.
