Beware of the travel agency. Almost half of them cheated clients! COUNCIL HOW TO PROTECT

Over 40 percent of travel agents and agencies audited last year by the Czech Trade Inspection (CTI) erred said CTIA spokesman Miloslav Fléglová. And not only that - the proportion of companies with flawed compared předchozímuý year by a third. Last year, inspectors checked 274 travel agencies, faults detected in 111 cases and saved about 100 fines totaling $ 1.3 million.

The results of inspections are alarming and shows that travel agencies do not care about their obligations and rights of consumers. In 2011, CTI personnel checked the same amount of travel agencies as last year, but only found errors in 30 percent of cases. In 2012, as the frequency of detected defects increased by one third. "That's why I want to representatives of professional associations of entrepreneurs in tourism make rules that prevent abuses. Everyone who is not respected, we will be more severely punished. This will use all the powers of inspection," said General Director Vladimir CTI Velčovský.

Worst of all itineraries in Prague and Central Bohemia

Mistake most companies from Central Bohemia and Prague, where inspectors found defects in more than 53 percent of cases. Exactly half controlled companies violated regulations in Silesian and Olomouc region.

The most common offense was insufficient information to clients about the scope, terms and conditions claims. Inspectors also discovered a number of cases of unfair trade practices. Only in these two areas fell last four fifths of the errors found. In 19 cases, travel agencies violated the law. "These cases were forwarded to the Ministry for Regional Development to take further action," said Fléglová.

"The highest fines 200,000 crowns last year were awarded to two travel agencies. A company's Dolce Vita (already failed) for not informing consumers properly about their rights when making complaints and society Beck Reisen. And also for failure to provide information and at the same time as unfair business practices, "said Fléglová two most egregious cases.

How to protect yourself

Inspection advises people to seek pre-contractual reference to the travel agency and any contract carefully read through."All ordered and especially ask for extra services in writing, do not settle with an oral promise. Thus will facilitate possible future claims. Claims Apply within three months after the end of the trip or stay, in writing to the seller," CTIA spokesman advised.
